Nigeria SDGsStory Summit holds Thursday in Abuja

As part of efforts aimed at raising awareness about the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in Nigeria, the Nigeria Youths SDGs Network, a coalition of youth-led organisations focused on the implementation of the SDGs in Nigeria, is set to host the second edition of its National #SDGsStory Summit in Abuja on Thursday.

The National #SDGsStory Summit brings together 300 delegates from across Nigeria who will share ideas and learn about how the effort of young Nigerians is helping to achieve the Global Goals in the country.

The Summit which will be keynoted by Maryam Uwais, special advisor on social investments to the Nigerian president will also feature speakers from the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), YouthHub Africa, Connected Development (CODE), and the International Labour Organization (ILO).

“Many young people are passionately working to make a difference where they find themselves; the stories of such people should be shared and applauded. There is so much we can do when we come together as against when will work individually and separately,” says Semiye Michael, chair of the Nigeria Youths SDGs Network.

“The SDGs Story Summit is designed to celebrate the efforts of young people across Nigeria who mobilizes resources to carry out intervention projects in the urban and rural spaces as giant strides towards the implementation of the SDGs.”

The #SDGsStory Summit seeks to amplify the voices of Nigerian young people doing amazing things including innovations in the areas of technology, agriculture, education across the urban and rural spaces in Nigeria towards the realization of the SDGs.

The event which will hold at the National Press Center, Radio House, Abuja, Nigeria will have in attendance representatives from Office of Senior Special Adviser to the [Nigerian] President on the Sustainable Development Goals, members of the diplomatic communities, among other dignitaries.
