Pre-AAIPS 2025 Special Webinar Mark African Intellectual Property Day

The Organizing Committee of the 6th All-Africa Intellectual Property Summit (AAIPS 2025), scheduled for November 12–14, 2025, in Dakar, Senegal, has announced a special pre-summit webinar to commemorate African Technology and Intellectual Property (ATIP) Day on September 12, 2025, from 14:00 to 16:00 WAT.

The webinar, themed “Driving Regional Integration and Economic Development in Africa through IP,” is part of the AAIPS 2025 pre-summit series. While ATIP was initiated by the African Intellectual Property Organization (OAPI) and is commemorated annually on September 13 across OAPI’s 17 Member States, this year’s pre-summit webinar extends the platform continent-wide, spotlighting the centrality of IP in Africa’s quest for industrialization, diversification, and job creation.

The two-hour session will feature a keynote address from OAPI, followed by presentations from leading voices in Africa’s IP ecosystem, including the AAIPS Founder, representatives of national IP offices, collective management organizations, accredited OAPI agents, and members of the OAPI Appeal Commission. Discussions will explore the unique features of the OAPI system, highlight the roles of institutional and private sector actors, and raise awareness about IP-related public policies across the region.

The webinar will target a diverse audience of universities, research institutions, legal professionals, policymakers, sponsors, and the wider innovation community. The free access webinar will be live-streamed via LinkedIn and YouTube and feature an interactive Q&A session along with simultaneous English–French translation.

By aligning with ATIP Day, the webinar serves as both a learning platform and a visibility drive for the November summit in Dakar. It aims to preview the transformative conversations expected at AAIPS 2025, deepen collaboration with OAPI, and reinforce Africa’s collective ambition to build an IP ecosystem that drives trade, innovation, and sustainable development.
