The Nigeria chapter of New Faces, New Voices (NFNV Nigeria) is set to hold the 2nd edition of its Northern Women Economic Empowerment Summit (NWEESS) on the 29th and 30th of November 2022 in Kano, under the theme: “Empowering women entrepreneurs: A panacea for poverty reduction and job creation in Northwest Nigeria. (Practical Appraisal).”

NFNV is a pan-African women in finance network under the Graça Machel Trust (GMT) focused on promoting changes in the financial sector by ensuring Africa benefits from women’s economic potential and empowering women to contribute to a crucial shift in the business and financial landscape across the continent.

The summit, which is supported by the United Parcel Service (UPS), will focus on strategies for harnessing numerous business opportunities for women-led businesses in northern Nigeria and is poised to build the capacity of attendees to scale up their businesses and have access to finance and markets.

The hybrid summit will build on the  gains of the maiden NWEESS summit held December 2021 in Kano, which exposed women entrepreneurs in the Northwest region to abundant funding opportunities from various agencies of the federal government as well as from financial institutions and development partners.

Among others, the 2022 summit would expose women entrepreneurs to opportunities in government agencies such as the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN) and the Nigerian Export-Import Bank (NEXIM), such as local and international trainings for women entrepreneurs, as well as allowing them the opportunity to join the SheTrades Initiative.

Experts in business, trade, and finance will facilitate a wide-range of sessions at the second edition of the NWEES summit.
