Physiological Society of Nigeria holds 39th conference in Kano

The 39th National Scientific Conference and Annual General Meeting of Physiological Society of Nigeria (PSN) is currently underway at the Bayero University in Kano. The conference themed ‘Application of Molecular Biology in Physiology Education’ explores the roles of molecular physiology in advancing medical education.

PSN draws its membership from 60 Nigerian universities and serves as a platform for the exchange of ideas and information amongst Nigerian physiologists including best practices in physiological education, particularly teaching and research, as well as recommending relevant research works to government agencies.

While speaking at the conference, Dr Isyaku Yarube, a professor of physiology at the Bayero said the conference was exploring the prospects of getting outputs of scientific research shared with members of the society. He added that the various scientists attending the conference which included professors, researchers, PhD, MSc and undergraduate students of physiology would be sharing findings of their respective research works as well as new ideas and experiences.

“Most of the research being shared at the conference are geared towards proving various facts, dispelling fallacies and ultimately providing solutions to some unanswered questions. Oftentimes, the final result of a process might not be gotten from a single researcher but through collaborations with other researchers which is guided by an established process of arriving at the final answer to the research question,” he said.

Also speaking, Prof. Abdul Rasak Alada, the national president of PSN said the communique of the conference would feature a good number of breakthrough research works aimed at further enlightening the society and which would be beneficial to humanity.
