A 709-carat diamond is being auctioned in Sierra Leone's capital Freetown.

A 709-carat diamond is being auctioned in Freetown, the capital of Sierra Leone.

It is the largest uncut diamond to be found in four decades and was discovered in the Kono district, in eastern Sierra Leone, where many depend on mining for their livelihood.

Al Jazeera’s Nina Devries reports from Kono.
