African Newspage, a digital newspaper focused on exclusively reporting sustainable development issues in Nigeria and across Africa, is organizing the one-day roundtable discussion for youth on the SDGs as part of the ongoing #KnowYourGoals campaign, aimed at raising awareness about the SDGs.

#KnowYourGoals is a global campaign being spearheaded by the UN’s Sustainable Development Solutions Network Youth Initiative (SDSN Youth Initiative) and targets youth activists from local campuses and communities.
“The SDGs are now over 2 years old yet many youth at the grassroots in Africa are not aware of the goals, talk less of taking any action towards achieving them by the year 2030,” says Adam Alqali, the editor of African Newspage .

“Therefore, it is high time everyone including media organizations take deliberate actions towards raising awareness about the 17 SDGs – alongside their 169 targets. They are actionable goals capable of transforming the world by 2030.”

The one-day event will have as guest speaker Muhammad Bello Shitu, a professor of community development and innovation diffusion and global vice president of the UK-based International Association of Community Development (IACD).

Partnering African Newspage in organizing the event are the Civil Society Legislative Advocacy Centre (CISLAC); Organisation for Community Civic Engagement (OCCEN); and the Inclusive Community Education Association (ICEADA). Others are the American Corner, Kano, Digital Development Hub (DD-Hub) and Mufarka Youth Initiative, amongst others.
